more basketball portraits

six down, four to go.

I shot all five boys inside the barn, so I'm going to try and shoot the girls outside the barn. There is less stuff to climb on, so it may not work. That and the weather will need to cooperate...

These are all so different and have a very cool energy. In the first, the girl is quiet but ready, and the powerful leaves blow around her, as the only motion. The third is a quiet reflective moment about motion. The second, and probably the best, feels like that first millisecond of motion, where the athlete is poised and starting to spring to action. The angle and setup add to the artistry. This is a very cool kinetic moment, in thirds: the athlete begins to spring from the ground (the middle), it looks like the photographer is shooting through the ground, where the energy is springing from (the bottom), and start the path of the ball through the air (the top). Nice work!
